All ya have to do is compare the equipment...and then compare what injuries would cause players to miss time in the past to now...and don't forget the way mommy and daddy pamper today's generation...the answer is yes.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

100% yes. I'm reading a book by Bill Curry (Center for the Packers and Colts in the 60s and 70s) right now and the conditions he described during his high school days would probably result in a football program being shut down today.

To hear the old-timers tell it you would think they were tougher. My high school coaches used to always tell us that they played the game with slop-jar helmets and barbed-wire chinstraps. And no, I don't know what a slop jar is.

Slop Jar was also used as a place to relieve oneself before toliets were inside homes(used mostly at night to prevent going out in the dark). Some call them chamber pots but most know them as slop jars. As for football players being tough back them is partly true because of less protective equipment they used but alot of the players now are bigger and stronger because of newer workout facilities and sometimes other helpful muscle builders. It would be interesting to see a team now days play a team from the past, say 30 or more years ago, just to see the comparison between how much the sport has changed.

Muscles have nothing to do with toughness.

And if yall had Xbox's and PS3's back then, you'd be inside playing them like my generation does.
